MRIs are one of the most important procedures used to diagnose critically ill children and adults. This procedure is scary for a child without the support of parents by their side. For an adult with Post-Traumatic Syndrome Distress (PTSD) or a brain injury, an MRI can be just as scary. Entire MRIs are lost  if the patient panics and/or moves.

Advanced technology has developed a technique that almost completely eradicates fears that accompany this procedure. PDC, developed a system that interfaces with the MRI, allowing a patient to watch a movie or listen to music. The system has gotten extremely positive reviews by military doctors and high level appointmeees from all areas of our government. While this technology is available at many private hospitals and some veteran hospitals, very few military and veteran hospitals have the system.  Sadly, funds are not available for our military facilities.

We must take care of our active military and their families, especially when in need of medical attention.  Our military families deserve nothing but the most advanced technology available in their time of need. They deserve to have what is available in private hospitals.

The Simple Solution

  • Advanced technology is now available for children, and adults with brain injuries and PTSD, that will eliminate MRI associated anxiety.
  • The use of the In-Bore System allows patients to watch movies or listen to music during the MRI.
  • The system has been proven almost 95% effective in distracting children and adults, from the “pounding sound” of the MRI procedure and the associated claustrophobia.
  • Importantly, this distraction decreases the need to retake many MRI'S and has decreased the need for sedation by almost 60%.

The Simple Facts

  • MRI procedures cause enormous anxiety in anticipation of, and during, the process.
  • These emotions often interfere with the MRI process, resulting in its termination prior to completion. Repeating this process only increases anxiety and costs.
  • For children, the need to lie still for long periods of time, without a parent to entertain or console them, can be impossible, without sedation. In fact, it can be terrifying.
  • For adults with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Syndrome (PPSD), confinement in such a small space, often brings back the terrifying memories of their time in combat.

Please help make this a reality by with your tax-deductible donation made to The Walter Reed Society at the address below. We are going hospital by hospital. It would also be a major help if you could call your Senator or Congressman about this issue. Either way, your contribution will help turn a frown into a smile, a precious commodity to someone going through such a difficult time.
THE PORTABLE VIDEO DISPLAY
The PDC Portable Video Display is specifically designed to allow patients to experience in-bore viewing regardless of procedure orientation. For head first patients, Prism Glasses or a Head Coil Mirror is utilized. For feet first imaging, GE Healthcare's Comfort Tilt Technology or a pillow may be all you need! The HD Portable Video Display can be rotated 180 degrees mechanically and/or 360 degrees digitally. The very rugged rolling base features an articulating arm for optimum patient viewing positioning. The Portable Video Display seamlessly integrates with PDC's Caring MR Suite®.
