Military Families Deserve the Latest Technology

MRI’s are one of the most important procedures used to diagnose critically ill children and adults.  This procedure, is difficult for many, and down right scary, especially if you are a child without the support of your parents, who may be deployed, or you are an adult suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Entire MRI’s are lost in the last minutes of the procedure if the patient panics. Fortunately, advanced technology has developed a technique that almost completely eradicates the fears that accompany this procedure.

PDC Facilities, developed a system that interfaces with the MRI system, allowing a patient to watch a movie or listen to music. The Portable Video Display that provides the in-bore viewing system has  proven almost 95% effective in distracting children and adults from the “pounding sound” of the MRI procedure and the claustrophobic conditions. Importantly, this distraction decreases the need of opioids for sedation.  While this technology is available at many private hospitals and 26 veteran hospitals around the country, only 3 military hospitals have the system. Sadly, funds are not available to provide this system for the critically ill children and adults who seek care in our military hospitals. We know you agree that we must take care of our active military and their families, especially when in need of medical attention.  Together, we must do better for our service members and families who serve to secure our safety and liberties.

We have partnered with the Walter Reed Society a 501c3, to form Mission:M4 and start an ambitious fund raising campaign.  This partnership affords Mission:M4 the ability to apply 100% of the donations, given by supporters like you, for this project to purchase In-Bore Systems directly for military hospitals throughout the country.  The WSF was formed by and supportive of, the mission of the Walter Reed Society, Inc., “was established to broaden the outreach of service to those who serve or have served in the military”.

"We are thrilled to announce that one system has already been installed in the Children's Radiology Unit at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center We have raised the funds to secure a second system in the hope that Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii will be our next stop.  MISSION:M4 hopes to facilitate the installation of 10 more systems  for the military hospitals within the United States with the largest children’s units."

As the deadly opioid epidemic rises, our mission of alleviating the need for sedation for children and adult military patients becomes even more critical.  Each system requires $50,000 in donations. As  private citizens, this is a daunting project but we are determined to be successful.

Our military families deserve the most advanced technology available in their time of need. Please help make this a reality with a  tax deductible donation to The Walter Reed Society, earmarked Mission:M4. Your contribution will turn a frown into a smile, a precious commodity to someone going through a difficult time.
